Meet Hadley Douglas

Hadley Douglas, Business and Health Coach

Mother. Wife. Entrepreneur. Those were the titles I allowed myself for decades of my professional career. But where was the rest of me?

A life that is not being truly expressed will catch up with you before too long. As I raced towards mid-life, I found myself struggling with chronic health issues, burnt out, anxious, and facing a difficult choice. I could continue on as is, or I could wrestle my way out of complacency into a more fulfilling life.

Gardener. Butterfly whisperer. Audiobook devourer. Accomplished cook. Not a half bad tennis player. Travel enthusiast. Journaler. Lover of magical moments. Friend. These are just some of the titles that I have added to my life in the past several years. And I am finally someone who sleeps. I am traveling a path that leads to a more fulfilling life.

I know credentials matter too, so here are mine.

With a background in branding, communications, marketing, events, and management, I have been creatively developing and running my own businesses since graduating from Wesleyan University. Together with my husband TJ, I founded The Urban Grape and Progressive Wine Company, two groundbreaking businesses in the wine and beverage industry. I also authored Drink Progressively: A Bold New Way to Pair Wine and Food with TJ and chef Gabriel Frasca.

I was named one of Inc. Magazine’s Top 100 Female Founders in 2020 and won an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2021. The Urban Grape was named the US Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year in 2021. The Urban Grape was also a 4-time Top 100 Wine Retail Store in America winner, a 2-time Wine Enthusiast Wine Star Nominee, a 5-time ICIC Inner City 100 winner, and a 6-time Best of Boston winner. Our businesses were nationally profiled in Food & Wine, The New York Times, NPR, Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Axios and Men’s Journal, among others.

In 2026 I added a new title - Health and Wellness Coach. I’m excited to combine my love of business with my desire to live a well life.

I round out my time by being a frequent panelist, mentor and writer. Raising our sons Noah and Jason has been the most joyful accomplishment of my life, and I cherish my time with them, my husband TJ, and our 11-year-old pup, Zeus.

“Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.”
— Derek Walcott, Love After Love (excerpt)
